Children they say are a blessing
Yet to many, they are not seen that way
You get carried away with what lies ahead in the future
Without realising that you have the future, your children
Toys, vacations et cetera do not matter
If you withhold love from them
Food, shelter, clothing and education
These are essentials to help them to great outcomes
Be kind and recognise where they are at
As they grow each day under proper guidance
High expectation gives room for disappointments
Which could unfold in negative reactions
They are learning through every experience
Therefore be mindful of your words, they hurt twice as much
Because they are internalised and replayed in their quite time
Do not confuse correction for punishment
It is a very thin line that sometimes get blurred
Work on yourself and your patience
Then you can understand them better
Spend time and play with them
So they are comfortable sharing their world with you
It will be worth it when you need company
And you find them there, spending time with you
