One hope that I have when I think about working with children and families from diverse backgrounds is that I am able to remain objective in my interactions with them and pay no attention to the discourse in the media. I hope to guard my heart and mind from the assault of false narratives that promotes intolerance for diversity.
One goal I would like to set for the early childhood field related to issues of diversity, equity and social justice is that there should be better integration programs set up to help children and families in the school system and also in the home. Another goal is that every child be treated equally and given the same opportunity regardless of their social identities and cultures.
I would like to thank my colleagues for 8 weeks of undiluted and honest interactions on a topic as important as equity and diversity. You all have contributed to the richness of this course as we took time to reflect about our identities, cultures and childhood memories. I wish you all well as we round off this course and I hope for the best as you continue on this journey to earning your Masters degree.
This is where I share my thoughts and opinions. It is a place for positivity and empowerment
